SweRoad bases its services on the following concepts:
SweRoad's Business Relations In 2010 the Swedish Transport Administration was formed by merging the former Swedish Road Administration, the Swedish Railway Administration and parts of some other Swedish authorities. The new administration is responsible for the long-term planning and development of the national transport system for roads, railways, shipping and aviation according to the needs of the society. It is also the government authority responsible for construction and maintenance of state roads and railways in Sweden and for the supervision of government-subsidised municipal and private roads. It has the overall responsibility for road safety and environmental impacts of the road and railway traffic, public transport, adaptation to the needs of the disabled etc. The whole land transport system including inland waterways, locks and car ferries is thus the responsibility of – and is supervised and monitored by – one and the same government administration. The Swedish Transport Agency's main tasks are to issue regulations, licences and permits within the transport system, and supervision to ensure that the components of the system function as intended, with due consideration to safety, environment and health. Other tasks are work to ensure that goals of the transport politics are reached and to contribute to an internationally competitive and safe transport system with minimum impact on the environment. The Agency thus both develops and drafts rules and acts as an inspectorate checking that the rules are observed. Being a close ally to these authorities, SweRoad has access to their vast manpower resources, technical information, experience and know-how. When needed SweRoad can also recruit specialists from other authorities, institutions and organisations in Sweden and abroad and can thereby cover the full range of consulting services in the transport sectors.
